School Categories

Open Settings from the side menu bar, then Schools > School Categories.

A School Category records what kind of institution a school is - Private, Academy, Church Funded, and so on. Set the categories up here, then assign one to each school on its record.

This is a different question from School Type, which describes the education level and speciality: primary, secondary, special needs. A school has both. One says what stage it teaches, the other how it is constituted and funded.

Keeping them apart is what lets you ask questions that cut across the two - how much of your work is with academies, or whether your special needs provision sits mainly in one sector.
