Business Report

A weekly email to the people who ask for it, showing how the parts of your service you use are doing — and a link to the full report as a page you can print.

Where to find it: Business Management > System Management > Business Report

Who can see the screen

Administrators see it. So does any user group holding a right on the whole Business Management band or on its System Management section, because a right that high carries everything under it. A group given rights screen by screen does not see it until Business Report is ticked in its user group.

When it arrives, and who gets it

Every Monday at 07:00, covering the week that has just ended — Monday to Sunday. The email holds a summary and the headline figures; View the full report opens the whole thing in Fusion.

Nobody is subscribed for them. Each person asks for it themselves with Subscribe on this screen, and the line beside the button tells you where you stand — You get the report every Monday, or You do not get the report.

Anyone with a licence and an email address can subscribe. Someone who later loses their licence stops receiving it, the same way dashboard emails stop, and nothing needs unsubscribing.

What is in it

The sections follow the modules your organisation has switched on, so a service that does not run Events never sees an Events section. The sections and the figures in them are ours, not yours to choose — the same thinking as queries and dashboard items, which is what they are built from.

Each section holds some mixture of headline figures, charts and tables, drawn exactly as the matching dashboard tile draws them.

Figures now, the explanation later

Each section carries a line saying what it covers. A short written commentary on what the figures mean is coming in a later release; until then a section shows its figures and that line.

Newest first. No report has been made yet has two likely reasons: nobody is subscribed, because a week with nobody to send to is skipped rather than reported on, or the report's sections have not been set up yet — they are ours to write, and until they exist a Monday passes without a report even for somebody who has subscribed.

A report that is still being built says Being made…, and one that failed says so with the reason.

The report itself

Sections in order, each with its figures, charts and tables, under the week it covers and when it was made.

Print / Save as PDF uses your browser's own print, so choose your printer or Save as PDF there. Nothing is stored as a PDF at our end, and the page is laid out for A4 with the screen furniture left off.

A report never changes after it is made

Every figure is saved into the report as it was when it was built. Opening last month's report shows last month's position, not today's recalculated from the same question — so it is safe to send one on, or to keep it beside a set of minutes.

If one figure could not be worked out, its place says so and the rest of the report still comes through.

What an administrator can also do

An administrator — not one on a read-only licence — gets three more things:

SubscribersThe full list, searchable by name or email, to subscribe or unsubscribe anybody. Save subscribers applies it
PreviewBuilds this week's report now and opens it. Nothing is sent, and it is marked Preview in the list
Send nowBuilds and sends last week's report straight away, and tells you how many people it went to

Preview is the one to reach for when you want to see what subscribers will get, or to check a change has taken effect, without emailing anybody.
