Evaluate Pupils

Where your service runs two-tier events — ones a pupil applies for and somebody decides on, rather than simply books — Evaluate Pupils is where that decision is made. The page is headed Delegates requiring approval, and it is the queue of applications waiting on you.

Where to find it: Teaching > Pupil Management > Evaluate Pupils

It is there only where your service uses two-tier events and lets you evaluate pupils, so most teachers will not see it.

The queue

One card per application, giving the event and the pupil's name, with Review. There is nothing to do from the card itself — the point is to open the application and read it.

Reviewing an application

Review opens what the applicant told you, with the start date at the top and the rest in tabs:

TabWhat is on it
ExperienceTheir reason for applying, and what experience they have
Additional InfoThe answers to your service's own form, where it asks anything
Uploaded EvidenceAnything they attached

The last two only appear where there is something in them, so an application with one tab is one that came with nothing beyond the basics.

Accepting or rejecting

Accept or Reject, then Confirm decision — the second step is there because the applicant is told either way.

Reject needs a reason, and it is not a formality: the reason is what reaches the applicant. Write the sentence you would be content to have read back to you.

If it says the request was saved but no email was sent

Your decision has been recorded — it is only the message that failed, usually because no email address is held for the applicant. The decision stands, so do not make it again. Tell the office so they can reach the family another way.
