Contract Breakdown
Contract Breakdown is the year's version of your teaching agreement: every activity you are contracted for, the hours each comes to, and how that adds up against your FTE. It is the page to open when you want to know whether what you are actually teaching matches what you are contracted to teach.
Where to find it: Teaching > Lesson Management > Contract Breakdown
Choosing what you are looking at
Down the left are the choices and then the facts:
- Select academic year — the breakdown is always for one year.
- Select contract — only when you hold more than one in that year.
- Select teacher — only for line managers, and only your own team.
Underneath, the contract's own details: Area, Faculty, Contract Basis, Contract and Contracted Weeks. These are set by the service, not here.
The print icon gives you the agreement as a printable page, which is the version to keep or sign.
Contracted Programmed Time
This is teaching that happens at a time and place — your contact time. It is grouped so that like sits with like: Tuition Activities first, then Group Activities and Other Activities where you have any.
| Column | What it is |
|---|---|
| Venue and Activity | Where and what |
| Fq | How often the plan runs |
| Occurrence | How many sessions it comes to |
| Day/Time | When in the week |
| Duration | How long each session is |
| Total Hours | The activity's hours for the year |
Each section totals, and the programmed sections then total together.
Contracted Unprogrammed Time
Allowances — contracted time that is not a timetabled lesson. It totals the same way, and then both halves are added into a grand total.
Break time is not teaching
Time at a school either side of a lesson is a break allowance. It counts as time you are contracted for, but never as part of a lesson's length or as teaching time, so you will find it here rather than among the activities.
The FTE table
The last table answers "does this add up". For Contact, Other, Total, FTE and Weekly it shows:
- Scheduled — what is actually in the diary
- Contracted from — what you are contracted for, a line for each period where your FTE changed during the year
- Contract hours for the year — the year's figure
Read Scheduled against Contracted. If scheduled time is below your contract, the year is short of work; if it is above, you are teaching more than you are contracted for. Either way the answer is a conversation with the office, and this table is the evidence to take to it.
Nothing here is editable
This page reports your contract; it does not change it. Where it looks wrong, the fix is in Xperios rather than on the Portal. If a year shows no data available for this period, there is no contract recorded for the year and contract you picked, which is itself worth asking about.
